This is NOT a trend…
It seems to be happening all around me. Boho has come back in style and is somehow tied with being more spiritual and closer to nature. Symbols of Hinduism and Buddhism are now the fashion trends. Spiritual awakening seems like the “cool” thing to do these days. I hear about people doing yoga to find themselves and they have no idea what they are even looking for.
In fact, Spiritual awakening isn’t a trend. It’s a change that you can feel to your core. It’s something that starts inside of you and radiates outward. People around you notice it. It’s not the clothes you wear or symbols you carry or tattoo on yourself. When you have an awakening, you glow. Because after all, you have a new light inside you.
You can experience an awakening at any point in your life.
From an early age, I was aware that I wasn’t like everyone else, but couldn’t put my finger on it. I saw things differently and didn’t understand why everyone wanted all these material things, why people couldn’t get along. Now that I’m older, the pieces are starting to fall into place. However, I suspect the process from beginning to end is going to be a long, adventurous one.
They say that you are most likely to experience one right after a traumatic event.
If you are feeling suppressed, be it from a rough relationship or a bad marriage or by religion or beliefs, the awakening process can be prolonged. Feeling like you have no control of who you are and how you will live will slow down the awakening process.
Have no fear. When you finally are able to escape the bondage of your life, you will grow like a lily in the murky waters reaching for the sun.
Once you start the process, it will feel like a tsunami has hit you — but in a good way! If you experience times of sadness and depression, you may have to look at your life and do things differently.
It starts with positive thinking. Our thoughts are energy, so what we send out, we will get back. It is important that you replace every negative thought with a positive one. Within a short amount of time, you will realize that you stop thinking negative and start thinking positive a lot more.
If you notice suppressed memories, understand that these could be things that were traumatic that you need to work through. It is important to learn to forgive yourself and others. It will help you move forward during your awakening.
You will break down and cry. It doesn’t matter if you are a rough and tough man. This is because you are releasing negativity that you’ve been holding on to. It is normal to experience high levels of emotions in order to work through the process of releasing the past.
It is really important to learn to meditate. Try to take 10 minutes a day and calm your mind. This may take a few tries but it will happen. It’s ok to think during meditation, but try to clear your mind. Focus on breathing or focus on an image. Close your eyes. There are different ways to meditate. Surely, you can find one that works for you.
When you are in a meditative state, imagine a white light poured over you like water washing away all the dirt that has built up over your body. See it leaving a glowing, bright you. This may take several days, but you will feel the cleanest and lightest that you’ve ever felt.
You can experience all or some signs of a spiritual awakening, as there are many. They can happen at different points in your awakening process or all at once. You can move at your own pace or quickly. It’s a process that takes many steps, releasing a lot of negativity and healing old wounds. But you will feel so much better!
Symptoms of a Spiritual Awakening
Feeling like you are running out of time. Probably because you are! Not in a bad way. You may get a nagging feeling that you have to get something done. You just don’t know what it is!
Feeling like something is missing. You may have everything that you could ever dream of but it still feels like something is missing. And it isn’t something you can buy. But you know it’s out there.
You crave more meaning and purpose. You want to make your life more meaningful. You feel like life isn’t just about working and dying.
A desire to reconnect with yourself and know who you really are. You may find yourself disconnected from your family, your religion, your sense of self. Take a break, discover what is important to you. Write your feelings, dreams and aspirations. Get out in nature and enjoy your own company.
You’d be surprised how many things you are doing for others and not for yourself that really don’t make you happy. This doesn’t mean that you should turn your back on your responsibilities, but the best you can do for yourself is reconnect with you.
Wanting more solitude. You may want to leave old friends for new ones that you feel more comfortable around. Anger, resentment and hate create walls around you. In the awakening process, you start breaking down those walls and all the things holding you back. This will be something you will continue to go through even after the awakening process as your soul continues to grow.
Feeling of being alone and lost. The process can be difficult because you see things differently than others. You may feel like you’re floating on an ocean with nothing in site. This is normal and means that you’re “leveling up”. These are times of transition for your soul and preparing to go to the next phase in the process.
Seeing society as a fraud. Fake news, fake people, fake everything.
Experiencing more synchronicity. There are no coincidences. Nothing is ever a coincidence. It’s synchronicity. When you ask for something, the Universe delivers!
You start to question everything you were taught.
Feelings of deeper empathy. More compassion, forgiveness and understanding of others.
You worry less and lose interest in conflict with others. You experience more joy and feeling of carefree. You will also experience more love towards others and give without expectation.
You will feel that everything is connected through energy.
Feeling the need to change old negative habits. You might realize that you no longer need to hold on to self-destructive habits.
Wanting to make the world a better place. Depending on what path your soul takes, you could write to teach others how to grow spiritually, help those who are less fortunate, clean the environment, etc.
Hypersensitivity! Feelings of intuition, high emotions, hearing and seeing things that no one else does. You’re not going crazy. It’s part of the process.
A big boost of creativity or inspiration.
A change in sleep patterns. Always feeling tired and spending more time asleep. Large burst of energy with little sleep. Occasional normal sleep patterns. Vivid dreams!!
You may have to make changes to your diet. The foods you used to eat yesterday may not agree with you today. Your body is changing and rejecting processed foods and products that are not good for your body.
You may see things out of the corner of your eye. You may see energy radiating of people and things, and feeling other people’s energy.
Pain in the eyes similar to a headache. This is your third eye opening up. These headaches are known to last for a few days — get some rest and stay away from bright lights as they can irritate your headaches more. Once you learn to use your third eye, you will no longer feel the pressure.
Feelings of no longer being alone. You sense someone there, but when you look, there isn’t. This could be a spirit or an angel.
I highly recommend that you seek professional medical attention if something doesn’t feel right, or is really off, as there could be pre-existing issues that you were not aware of that you would need a medical professional.
Chances are, if you’ve read this far, you may be experiencing a spiritual awakening. Have patience with yourself and enjoy the journey!
