Loneliness is a cause for depression among all age groups. Living alone brings up a different set of challenges than living with a partner or with family. Even though singles feel excluded, many of us live alone by choice.
If you stop to think about it, living alone is a really cool gift. If you shift your mindset, its way of living your life abundantly, wealthy and luxurious.
You command. Everything is your way. It may sound a little selfish to say it this way but when you consider that a wealthy person has the freedom to do things their way. They can travel, they can buy things, they have freedom to do things. And maybe freedom from as well. You may not have the financial capability to do everything you want to do, but you know what you can and can’t do.
If you want to eat gummy bears for dinner, no one is judging. No one is there to tell you what you can and can’t do. You can have the furniture in your house organized the way you want to. You can spend a little or a lot of money on anything that you want. You are free to wear anything — there are no opinions. You can wear an evening dress, your pajamas, or wear nothing at all and connect with who you are.
Time is on YOUR schedule. You are not going to be late to your own dinner. You are not expecting someone to come home at a certain time and have a set of required activities expected of you. It’s just you and you can do anything you want.
If you wake up in the middle of the night and you want to snack on something, or sit in bed and read or listen to an audiobook, it’s ok. Is there anything more luxurious than being read to? You don’t have to worry about making noise or getting in anyone’s way. You can do whatever your heart desires.
Eating is “a-la-carte” — what you want, when you want it and how you want it. You can eat alone or you could invite friend to come over.
Basically, you’re free. You are free to do whatever you want when you want. You can rediscover your personal likes and desires and passions.
It is possible to create a world, your world, a world of peace on your terms.
There is no one to yell at you. You are the star of your show. You are the heroine, you are the producer. You are the whole show of who you are and you can shape it any way you want. It’s all up to you.
You have no negotiations, and no justifications to make for your tastes or desires. In the broad sense, living alone can be a luxury that makes you feel rich.
It’s time to adopt an abundant, life-embracing mentality and celebrate solitude in a positive manner.
